The First Pair - The Bias Cut

The First Pair

Today marks the begining of a new project, which I have been hoping to get to for some time. I am cataloguing all my shoes, and trying to place them in the context of my life. Crazy? Probably. But I have a lot of really beautiful pairs that rarely get to see the light of day. Maybe a coupld people will find it somewhat interesting.

To celebrate, I have chosen a very special pair to be first. These crazy Miu Miu heels were purchased in the winter of 2004, at the Space outlet in Cabazon, CA. I had just met RC. We had been dating for three months or so and he took me away to the desert for New Years. It was very romantic. I also knew we were destined for a long and happy life together when he suggested we stop at the outlets on the way to Desert Hot Springs.

The shoes, like new love, are beautiful, fun, and completely unpractical. I have worn them once. They have a fat front platform, strange pencil heels, and are a ridiculous, rich shade of purple. And the straps around the ankles are snug. Wood, fabric and rubber, you name it, they've got it. But I love them for all those reasons.

I love you, like really love you. But I have to say you must have been so head-over-heels lust/love with RC at the time that you lost control of your inner-fashion-compass because these shoes are hideous. They look like they are posing for an ebay sale. They are saying, "Okay, so I know I kinda of look like I got stolen from a tranny's fake louis vuitton luggage, but don't worry. I'm really cute and small upclose."
