What makes The Bias Cut unique?

The Bias Cut is the first premium online boutique truly dedicated to celebrating stylish women at every age. We uniquely curate all our collections with this in mind, focusing on exceptional quality, style and flattering cuts in equal measures. Our  age-inclusive models allow you to shop with confidence, whilst our specially tailored filters help you find those right pieces straight away.  By supporting The Bias Cut you are supporting ending ageism in the Fashion Industry once and for all.

Is there a reason you only offer certain sizes?

We currently sell UK size 6 - UK size 16 (US 2 - 12, EU 34 - 44) in the majority of our pieces, and go up to size UK 22 (US 18, EU 50) in selected styles. As much as we are on a mission to fight ageism, we are on a mission to do so with sizes too. In some cases with our brands, we have successfully encouraged them to offer larger sizes. But unfortunately it often requires different patterns, rather than simply scaling up designs, to ensure the pieces are still flattering. And we don't want to compromise our ethical and quality standards. Overall this is an internal issue within the industry that we are working hard to change.

We are constantly on the look out to find more and more designers that go up to larger sizes. But we share your disappointment in the limit of sizes available, and continue to work hard to find designers who embrace size as much as all ages. We do hope you will continue with us on this journey.

Why do you focus on premium independent labels?

At The Bias Cut we are committed to supporting sustainable and ethical manufacturing. We are opposed to fast disposable fashion due to its adverse impact on the environment and unacceptable working conditions. As such we only work with labels that share our values, and believe in designing beautiful quality pieces to love and last for years to come. Inevitably this puts our pieces in the 'premium' price range point, but we always ensure everything we sell is fair value for the craftsmanship that has gone into the piece.

We also believe our 'premium' position is ideal for fighting ageism within the Fashion Industry. There is a clear hierarchy in Fashion and premium is in the middle. It is one of the most powerful areas in the industry at the moment with more and more customers valuing quality. So, as well as it allowing us to maintain our values, we also feel this is the best place to make our anti-ageist message, as it is most likely to be noticed by and have an impact on both higher and lower market levels.

What is your returns/exchange policy?

We believe returns should be as hassle free as possible. So we offer FREE UK returns/exchanges to all UK based customers. To submit a return request all you have to do is click "Request A Return" in the bottom of the site, and follow the easy instructions to receive your pre-paid return slip.

If you wish to return/exchange an order from an international address, you will need to arrange this yourself at your own cost.

Which courier do you use?

We know how different couriers can be unreliable, so we have spent a long time researching and testing different couriers to ensure we can offer you the best service possible.

Our standard UK & global courier is DHL - one of the leading trusted couriers by the Fashion Industry. If you have any special requests as to where you would like your parcel left, do let us know. If you are not in and there is no 'safe space', your order will be left at your local authorised DHL collection point (usually a local shop), the address of which will be on the tracking details.

In the UK, we may deliver via Royal Mail.  You will be notified of this on dispatch. If you would prefer Royal Mail as your courier, you can select this at checkout for a minimal additional charge. 

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Every order is beautifully hand wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon. It will also include a note and a little special surprise!

Do you have a physical store?

We are online based and do not have a permanent physical store. However we do host pop-up parties and shops around the UK where you can feel, try on and purchase pieces from our latest collection. Additionally we will invite along a special guest, such as a professional make up artist, to pamper you! To find out when we are hosting the events make sure to sign up to The Style Club mailing list.

I'm a nervous online shopper. How can I be sure your website is safe and secure?

The Bias Cut has a 256-SSL certificate to ensure a secure encrypted connection, and it is certified Level 1 PCI DSS compliant - the highest level of security certification. Plus our website is continuously scanned for any viruses, malware or other nasty things. All payments are secure, and you can also purchase via PayPal for additional peace of mind should you wish to do so.

What if I'm uncertain about quality and/or size?

We pride ourself on only selling designs that are of excellent quality and craftsmanship, and we refuse anything that doesn't cross our high standard threshold. We do sell synthetic pieces as well as natural, but these synthetics have been manufactured using modern techniques to ensure they are of a beautiful standard.

If you are concerned about sizing, we include sizing details at the end of every product page with that garment's measurements. We also fit the pieces on 'normal' women, so our sizing suggestions are as accurate as possible (meaning they may sometimes differ from the labels' "official" sizing suggestions). Due to this we have an very low return rate for online boutiques. However remember we do offer free returns in the UK for extra peace of mind and you're most welcome to ring or email us if you would like help.

I've purchased before. Does that mean I automatically have an account?

No, you'll only have an account should you wish to create one as we don't want to create one without your consent. To do so just click 'Create An Account' at the top right of the page.

Creating an account is never compulsory for purchasing, but if you do, it will allow you to purchase quicker in future and you'll also receive 20 Style Points for redeeming on future purchases!

Can I earn loyalty points with my purchases?

Absolutely! See that Burgundy "Earn Style Points" tab on your page? Well that's our Style Points Rewards Scheme. You can earn points for every purchase, as well as for other activities such as leaving reviews, referring friends, sharing your purchases on social media and more. Simple create an account at the top of the page to get started - you'll receive 20 points straight away?

I would like some inspiration. Where can I find some?

Our blog is a great source of inspiration. Our founder Jacynth regularly posts articles, including ones on style tips, interviews with other style loves, and discussion on topical issues and trends. we also have 'Your Blog' - a blog that gives a voice to other women, by sharing their articles and stories.

Are you on social media?

Of course! We're very active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest so make sure to follow us there for more inspiration, chat and updates. And please do chat with us as we love to hear from you!

Can I communicate direction with any of your stocked designers?

As we are a retailer, stocking and shipping all orders ourselves all orders and communication is through us for the smoothest service possible. Please note if you are not a customer nor have an enquiry for our team, but wish to speak to the designer label itself, we will try our best to help. However if you wish to speak to them directly you will need to go to their website for their details.
